It has been quite the upsurge in form for Shkodran Mustafi.

The Germany international has appeared to find a new groove under new Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta, and was once again in imperious form against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.

As per Sofascore, he made a mammoth nine clearances, completed five of his seven attempted long balls, and won seven of his aerial duels too.

After seeing his display, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the centre-back.

Some fans of the north London side suggested Mustafi looks “reborn under Arteta”, and that he is being transformed into a good centre-back.

One fan meanwhile appeared to suggest the upturn in form, particularly in these last couple of games, is down to Pablo Mari’s arrival.

It may have been a long time coming, but Mustafi finally appears to have settled down as a key part of the Gunners first-team.

He has now started and completed the full 90 minutes in the past four Premier League matches for the north London side, and has seemingly dislodged Sokratis on a permanent basis.

But with new arrival Mari waiting in the wings, Mustafi will know that he has his work cut out in terms of keeping his place in the team. But his performances in recent weeks shows that he is certainly deserving of his spot for now.
